Wordy Wednesday

I am going to be starting today, a word each week just to refresh our minds as adults and/or help the children grow an interest in odd words.

Today's Word Is: Onomatopoeia [on-uh-mat-uh-pee-uh]

What does it mean? Can you give an example?

  1. Onomatopoeia is the formation of a word by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent. Some examples are the following: fizz, buzz, clunk, tinkle, twang, beep, honk and hoot! :)
